The lure that started it all is still the number one "go-to" lure. Whether twitched on top as a surface bait, retrieved as a shallow runner, weighted with a split shot for medium depth or bottom walked off a three-way swivel or bottom bouncer, the wounded minnow action continues to be irresistible to fish everywhere. Premium black nickel VMC® hooks. Hand tuned and tank-tested to ensure that world renowned action straight from the box.

I use the Rapala BT lures to catch brown trout when drifting along in
the boat while flicking in toward the edges of the river, ( Huon
river, Tasmania) beside logs and overhanging vegetation. We prefer the
floating lures as can avoid a lot of snags ( (Actually prefer the
smaller F7 lure but never mind) Also we catch escaped Atlantic salmon
( from the estuary based aquaculture industry) usually after seals
have torn a hole in the holding pens and after a week they end up
heading upstream in the rivers. When we know the salmon are around we
will troll the lures.

These floater Rapala lures will be for pre spawn aggregation of browns ( southern hemisphere )

hoping to entice aggression strikes from larger browns

fishing river bed at top of lake

was thinking of even larger swim baits in brown trout but they are not really a
thing here in australia yet but after watching swim baits vids from states on you
tube got me thinking

I use
floating rapalas to fish for Atlantic Salmon.I tie the nylon to the rapala using the
rapala knot. After connecting the nylon,I cut it about 18 inches above the rapala and
re-join to the main line using a swivel. The fishing method I use is this, I cast
the lure

across or slightly up river, (never down river) my reasoning being, experince has
taught me that fish almost invariably attack lures on the turn,( almost all fish are
caught on the middle hooks). It therefore follows that by using this method, I turn
the lure more often and so increase my chances of a "take". I keep the rod tip
approximately 6 inches above the river and retrieve slowly. The position of the
swivel and the rod tip combined with a slow retrieval keeps the lure "swimming"
about 10 inches below the surface of the water. I have found this method to be
highly successful over the years.
