I use down riggers to keep Tackle businesses in business, with an Alabama Rig, I
can lose up to a $100 worth of lures/equipment in one fail swoop Which I did
a week or so back. I find downriggers used in 80 feet of water, will hang up at
40 feet deep with no obstructions showing on the depth finder. I suspect there
are divers that catch the downrigger and cut the line and resell the equipment,
either that, or the Stripers in the lake I fish are teaming to gather, drinking a
lot and playing a joke on the fishermen. I find the Luhr Jensen Deep Six is their
preferred downrigger, the Jet Divers are not as susceptible to these tricks.
Oh, Well, I do like the Deep Six, but I may have to quit using it, it is just too
expensive, may have to buy a downrigging system, so I can have better control over
the depth at which I loose the weights
