I use them for fishing leaders
to prevent line from twisting. Sampo swivels are the best ones for this
purpose and the only ones I use.

I'm a falconer, and the Sampo swivels are the most reliable way to keep our hawks
and falcons tethered without them getting tangled up. It goes between the jesses
(straps attached to hawk or falcon legs) and the leash they are tethered to their
perch with when not flying/hunting.
Thanks for the great price, and fast shipping!

I fly 3.5 meter competition remote controlled sailplanes. These planes are launched
off a winch line using 330 lbs braided twine seine line run out to 600 feet to a
turnaround then back 600 feet to the launch point. The forces generated during
launch are significant and we need high strength components to insure we don't have
a failure. The ball bearing swivels are used on the launch line to mitigate some of
the line twisting that occurs. We also use the swivels on the recovery line, to
avoid the same twisting issue. The launch line will have only one ball bearing
swivel near the drag parachute, but the retriever line will have as many as three
linked together using #11 300 lbs split rings.

The launch and recovery lines are drug back from the turnaround along the ground by
the retriever motor and the swivels get pretty beat up due to the friction with the
dirt/rock/grass. Ball bearing swivels hold up much better than regular barrel
fishing swivels that seem to allow more debris inside their action.

The planes are called Thermal Duration or F3J sailplanes. These planes are not cheap
and run about $2000 on average with servos, battery, switches and wiring harnesses.
The critical moment is during launch when you load tension on the line then throw
the plane, if any component fails and the plane does not have enough forward
momentum it will stall, then bad things happen, expensive things break and your day
is over, unless you have a backup plane to fly.

I hope that gives you some insight on the unusual application of your product.

I was surprised (and pleased) that the swivels were coming
from West Fargo. You are curious on how the people use the stuff they get.
. . . well I am trying out those Sampo swivels for a wickedly fast spinning
kite.

If you want to travel a short distance west to Jamestown June 13/14 I will
likely be flying the spinner pictured below with the swivel(s) you just sold
me. That spinner is 34" diameter and 16.5 feet long. I had the factory
swivel on it when flying during a stiff wind day last September and after 6
hours that swivel failed. It was the first hard test for the swivel and now
I realize I should have lubricated it once or twice during the day. The
Sampo 300 lb. and 500 lb. swivels are recommended by Gomberg Kites
(http://www.gombergkites.com/line.html). They also carry 1500 lb. and 5000
lb. swivels for some big show kite items. I will actually be putting the
swivels to their first test in late May in Garrison ND (3 day kite festival)

So.did you expect the swivel would be for this purpose?

The spinning basket shown below is from 2007 in Jamestown. It had 20 ton
line anchored to a grader. The basket rotates but I do not know what
strength swivel it had! The previous year it was anchored to a large front
end loader but the basket was pulling the loader across the field.

This might be a new one for you. I use the swivels between my camera
