Still today, it is the hook of choice for lure makers and fishermen looking for maximum strength and sharpness without breaking the bank. Wide a very wide size range including size 3 and 5, the VMC model 9651 allows you to replace the original trebles on your favorite lures with a perfect match in size and strength so you never compromise the original action of your lure. Short shank is perfect for small size lures.

I found a super good deal on some stunna jerkbaits but they don't have hooks so I'm going to set them up with these vmc #6's and see how they do!

I custom paint crankbaits (Klew Lures) and I specifically use these hooks on Wiggle
Wart type lures.

I am a deep water/structure Kayak fisherman. Have tried various techniques
over the years and one stands out (to me) more so than any other. Vibrating
Blade Baits...as I fish mainly for Bass, it catches all types of fish. From
small perch (2 at a time) to a 41 lb flathead.

Anyhow, as there are many different companies that make them, they can get
expensive as they hand up a lot. So, I have done 2 things...

1) Made a good lure knocker (which I retrieve about 95% of my lures back) as
I hate to leave anything in the water that does not belong.

2) Decided to put together my own version of the blade bait by ordering the
blades, snaps, split rings and hooks. Then I paint and/or dye the blades. Ad
colorized reflective tape to them. For the money I pay for 5 already
made...I can put together at least double that amount...and they work just
as well if not better.

I am always looking to tweek/improve the performance of the baits. So I want
to try the short shank trebles in hopes they do not hang up on the body of
the lure. Also, purchased some open shank hooks to try out.

Anyway, that's my story and I'm sticking to it...lol
