Opti-angle needle point, chemically sharpened, nor-tempered, forged, 2 extra strong, black nickel

This stout, sturdy hook is an excellent choice when fishing small jigs and swim baits for larger fish. One of the most versatile jig hooks, it is ideal for Steelhead, Salmon, Bass, Walleye and in-shore species such as spotted bass, Specks and Sea Trout.

I ordered these heavier jig hooks for tying
flies - works good for tying 'balanced leeches' for large rainbow
trout. The fly is tied with a piece of pin and beadhead attached to
the shaft of the hook so the beadhead is in front of the eye & the fly
'balances' for horizontal presentation to the fish. The upturned eye
of the jig hook allows the eye to clear the body of the fly for easy
tying to the fishing line.

I use the hooks to make a balanced fly. Usually a leech patern for fishing
lakes. Fish them under an indicater and they hang horizontally. They work
pretty good. Use a bead head to balance the fly out on a safety pin and tied
to the shank of the hook.

I use these to tie "balanced leech" style flies. Haven't used this particular hook
before, but it comes highly recommended.

I use the #10 jig hooks to tie balanced leeches. (A still water pattern).
Fly fished under an indicator, they are extremely effective. More so than a
leech tied on a standard hook. My catch rates have increased since I have
started using them. This style of hooks are a little hard to find sometimes
where I live so a box of 100 will last a long time. It would be good if
Mustad offered these in #12 also but #10's work fine.

Mustad jig hooks are used here on the interior lakes of
BC tied as "balanced leeches" in conjunction with slotted metal beads in
order to present a leech pattern as natural as possible while suspended
under a strike indicator. In Spring, the Rainbow Trout are usually confined
to the top 15 feet of water, so the leech is presented between 3 feet and
15 feet. Later on in summer the depth may be as much as 30 feet.
The "rig" required is a good floating fly line, as long a leader/tippet as
required for the maximum depth to be achieved and a strike indicator to
"set" the level of the fly below the indicator. Some, more innovative fly
tiers are now using the balanced jig hooks to tie dragon nymph patterns for
suspending just over top of chara weedbeds where large Rainbows lay in wait
for the bigger prey like darner dragon nymphs.

I use the Mustad 32833BLN size 10 for what is called a Balanced Leech
Pattern. Phillip Rowley has a video showing how to tie this fly.

Thsi pattern will hang horizontal when fished with a strike indicator.

I'm using these hooks to tie balanced leaches to hang below a strike
indicator. I'm fishing these leaches near Anaconda, Mt. in public ponds that have RB
trout that average between 6 and 12 pounds.

I will use these smaller mustad ultra point 2x jig hooks to make ice fishing jigs. One of the lakes I fish
here has arctic char that go up to 10 pounds so a small 2x strong hook is
needed. The jigs I make are very simple. I just use different colour
tungsten beads. I will also tie some flies on these hooks for ice fishing.
As the spring gets closer the fish switch over to eating nymphs so I will
tie some pheasant tails and GRHE on these hooks.

I use these 32833bln mustad jig hooks to make balance leeches for fly tying and these hooks work great

I'm using your jig hooks for a balanced leech pattern by Phil
Rowley. It incorporates a straight pin that is cut on top with a
tungsten bead to make a balanced hook for trout. Will be tring the same
setup on wolly buggers and incorporate soft hackle in the pattern. If
you google Phil Rowley balanced leech it will show you how I'm using
your hooks...

I intend to use the hooks to tie "suspended leeches", a pattern
from Phil Rowley, one of Canada's top professional fly fishermen. I
originally used Mustad 94840 hooks, size 8, 10, and 12. Phil used a cut off
straight pin tied to the shaft of the hook and extending past the eye with a
bead tied at the head of the pin. I used quilting pins, which are shorter,
and easier to adjust for balance than a blunt cut straight pin. I sent Phil
some of the quilting pins and he sent me a jig hook. So we tie a marabou
leech with a dubbed body and a metallic rib on the body. Before we tie, we
check the balance of the rig - we adjust the bead and pin bit so that the
fly will hang parallel to the floor from a bit of tippet loop thru the hook
eye. The idea is to suspend the leech pattern from a strike indicator and
fish the fly at a dead drift in still waters. I have also used the pattern
"naked", with up to type 8 sinking lines (Airflo sixth sense). The hits are
ferocious! The 90 degree jig hook will give me a fly that is much easier to
tie on than the down eye 94840.
