Mustad W3551 Weedless Treble Hooks - Size 2/0

For some reason there are not a lot of tailored bits and specific sorts of tackle on
the market which meet the anglers needs. In the case of these weedless treble hooks
I was hoping to get an even larger size treble hook which has the weed guards on
them to use on even larger baits such as 3-4-5-and 6/0 hooks.

Fish use deep cover and structure where they can on lakes with such forage. Not a
lot of lakes have weeds but in those that do you will find the largest fish,
predominantly large older egg laying females surrounded by young males near or on
either weedbeds, submerged logs, stumps, rocks, or even man made artificial reefs
created through sunken boats, Christmas trees and even elaborate PVC designs which
are intended to hold these fish.

Heavy weed cover is where I intend to use through modification, some of my topwater
lures and make them more weedless so that I can get into heavy weed cover where
openings are found. The weedless hooks offer a bit more time and a more natural
presentation in these heavily guarded pockets. Otherwise all you have to work with
is the initial drop of the bait during your retrieve, then you have to reel in a
huge mess. With these weedless guards, I can cast slightly over theses pockets,
then pull the lure into the openings with a more subtle presentation to the awaiting
fish.

Fishing is a lot like combat. Its just that us "catch and release fishermen," let
them go after we've defeated them in battle.

Big fish (females) create big fish. Its these older females that brood new life and
eventually larger fish into the fishing habitat. Large females are egg laying
machines, creating tens of thousands of hatchlings. Once you remove even one of
them is akin to stopping and curtailing the entire reproductive system of any lake
system.

Modern taxidermy can near exactly recreate the trophy caught. The angler just needs
to photograph, measure, and weigh his catch and present this information to a
taxidermist. Once created, these lifelike mounts will not fade or shrink the way
the old skin mounts do over time and will endure for centuries. There aren't many
record breaking fish out there today, its because anglers have killed them, taken
them out of their waters, and often these fish never even see the taxidermist.
Merely because once these anglers find out how expensive it is to mount their fish
or other trophies they just throw them in the trash.
