Mustad W37754NP-RB Red Wide Gap Weedless Hooks - Size 3/0

Ok, after losing 3 fish due to breaking the line, my 3/0 hook supply was getting low. I use the hooks for fishing stick baits (Senko style worms) and rig them wacky style. Had caught and released over three limits of largemouth bass last week using this hook.

I have used a variety of weedless hooks, predominately to fish for large and
small mouth bass in new England. I most always use a slow presentation, rig
wacky with o-rings, no weight of any kind except the mustad wide gap
weedless in 3/0 for large and small mouth alike. Tried the small circle
hooks with a similar weed guard but I found that the hook-ups were less
consistent for me and they aren't as heavy. It's a small difference but
increases the fall rate substantially with the weedless wide gaps. As to
the weed guard this one seems to stand up better than most of the others
I've used. It can be bent back into shape a lot before it fails. Most
others don't stand up. One thing I do that is important to them standing
up, is that I use clear coat nail polish on the weed guard binding wire.
Three to four coats. I usually lose the hook or it won't hold shape any
longer before the weed guard quits. The other product of choice is the
Matzuo brand 3/o weedless wide gap shiner hook for me. IN a heads up
contest I think the Matzuo brand would just edge past the Mustad.



I lose more hooks than break down. I do fish every day during the season
March-November, Well mostly, everyday, so its inevitable that I go through
tackle.
