I'll be going on my 3rd. fishing trip to the Amazonian jungle, looking for giant Peacock Bass and other species; one of them being the Payara or Vampire Fish. Usually these are caught in river rapids, and using floating lures MADE OUT OF WOOD that measure from 5" to 9" in length. These fish destroy plastic lures by "stabbing" them with their teeth no matter how well made or expensive they are. That's why wood construction is a must as even when "stabbed" and in bad shape, they will never sink hence lasting longer in service.
