I use the Yo-Zuri 3D 100mm, floating, 1/2oz, jointed lure almost exclusively for fishing the shallow flats around Port Aransas, Texas.
These are great lures in our flats where we fish water depths of 1 %u2013 3ft, in shallow water boats, kayaks, or wading.
These flats are covered with various sea grasses which are incubators for larva of fish and shrimp, and also significant
populations of sea perch and various bait fish.
What%u2019s great about these lures is that they only dive 6%u201D when cranked fast, thereby gliding over the grass. They have great action
which requires very little effort to work different swim patterns %u2013 slow, fast, jerky, start/stop. The variety of colors makes it
easy to either mimic natural bait fish, or adapt colors to ever changing water clarity and temperature. I can use this lure in
almost any condition, and hours on end, without fatigue like you experience using a top-water and %u201Cwalking the dog%u201D. I reserve
top-water for very windy conditions where you have white caps or rough tidal surges.
The main targets are Red Drum and Speckled Sea Trout. When I first starting using these lures I was mainly going after reds,
but quickly learned they are just as deadly for trout.
I just recently found out that Yo-Zuri had discontinued this lure, AND are not planning a replacement model. I had a collection
of about 7 %u2013 having lost two to an oyster bed and one to a large skipjack with sharp gill plates. When I went to buy a couple of
replacements I discovered the sad truth.
SO, I took to our friend Google and searched high and low for stock. I now have ~30 in hand and another 10 coming from
various sources, including your store. I am trying to stock a lifetime supply. I figure at age 67, losing 3 per year, a couple
of gifts here and there -I%u2019ll need about 50 %u2013 just to be safe. My reputation and dinner table depend on it.
If you get more of these lures, please let me know. Especially white/redhead, chartreuse, or sliver/black.
