For the first time, apply the walk-the-dog style technique below the water surface. Twelve color patterns and a VMC SureSet feather tail hook complete the look. Cast it out, let it sink and get ready to see the X-Rap attitude of this rebel of the water come to life. Begin twitching your rod tip and watch the X-Rap Subwalk dive into sub-surface hunting mode but don't relax, because you're in for one exciting day on the water.

I primarily fish of the rocks spinning for larger pelagic's such as Longtail Tuna,
Spanish Mackeral and Trevally with lures. Primary lures used is heavier metal lures
(65 - 85g range), shallow divers (Rapala SXR 14), poppers and other shallow running
lures (deeper running lures get snagged on the rocks). Metal lures account for a
high percentage of catches but I'm not sure whether they are more effective than
other lures or whether it is because it is used by most fisherman due to economic
reasons. Metal lures are cheap (< $5) compared to other lures such as the Rapala's
which usually cost more than $20 locally. A lot of lures are lost fishing off the
rocks and it can get very expensive if you pay $20 a lure. It is not just because
of being snagged but also because of the low landing rate of the fish. From the
last 10 hook-ups I had/witnessed about 30% fish came out. The rest are either lost
through being cut on the rocks, sharks or tackle failure.

How I fish these lures:

Metals - innitial drop then fast retrieve
Shallow divers - medium to slow retrieve with some action, particularly with the
X-Rap's to try an mimic an injured bait fish
Poppers - medium to fast retrieve

I have not experemented too much with the stick type baits yet and will give the
Rapala I bought a go to test their effectiveness.

See the following video link, which was made a couple of years ago now, at the local
rock fishing spot by one of the guys.
