I live in Northern Maine where I fish St. Froid Lake as well as Eagle Lake. I use the speed spoon jigging for smelt. It is not uncommon to catch brookies, salmon, perch and even a cusk. Originally I purchased the spoon purposely for smelt using light gear but have lost two of the spoons recently having twice a decent brookie breaking my line. So today I have gone to 10 lb test. Tired of losing those spoons.
